As for the Press TV incident, I stand by what I said. I am more than capable of disapproving of others appearing on Press TV. I would also remind you that Corbyn’s final payment was received six months after Ofcom revoked its broadcasting licence due to airing Maziar Bahari’s false confession. To say, as you did, that “as the Iranian National broadcaster of course they were going to [broadcast the confession]” misses the point in spectacular fashion. The point is that they’re the broadcaster for a repressive, theocratic regime. The point, as ever, is Corbyn’s sustained unwillingness to exercise judgment about the company he keeps and the groups he legitimises. I am more than happy to condemn Lembit Öpik and others on the same basis, but Lembit Öpik isn’t leader of my party.
